Choose your anchor text for incoming links

Saturday, June 30th, 2007 | Link Building, SEO | No Comments

It would be pretty nice if we could just select our top chosen keyword phrase as our anchor text and then use it for all incoming links we gather for our website. Unfortunately, it isn’t year 2000, and this technique just doesn’t hold the weight it once did, not to mention the fact that you very likely have more than one keyword phrase you want to rank well for.

So this brings us to the question of not only how to choose anchor text for brand new incoming links, but to also use anchor text in a way to make your backlinks look as natural as possible (even if they aren’t!) to the Google (and other search engine) powers-that-be. Here are some tips when it comes to selecting that crucial anchor text as well as things to consider once you start gathering (or buying) backlinks.

Saturday, June 30th, 2007 | Contextual Advertising, Google, Google Adsense & Adwords | No Comments

While creating some AdSense ad unit javascript for a client today, I noticed a new feature in the AdSense control panel, the ability to chose the style of corners in the ad unit. Publishers can now select “slightly rounded”, “very rounded” or “squared” corners on their ad units, which is done by adding a new line to the javascript.

Here is what the slightly rounded looks like:

The “Hello World” AJAX script

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 | Scripts & Programming, Tutorials | No Comments

just made this quick ajax tutorial for people who’re starting out there and want to learn AJAX. The following tutorial will teach on how to submit a simple form through php and get the stuff printed out by using AJAX. The first sect will be plain simple to just print a input string and I’ll add getting some dynamic content after it.

So let’s get started.
For most of you you may have a local server at your PC or a remote hosting, remember there’re no special requirements for this tutorial all you need is a php installed server. If you’re right starting away you can install XAMPP which will install all defauly modules on your PC directly. I’ll be getting a good tutorial on this if I get enough requests.

For the first part we’ll do our job using two files,

1) Index.php

2) ajax.js (The AJAX framework)

3) Style.css (stylesheet)

4) form.php (To process the submitted data)

I started to write this article because after 1 year of running a small forum community I realize is not a simple task to maintain a forum. In a way I had luck because I start with the right forum: SMF. I didn’t had any problem at software level (mods, security patches) because SMF Team is an very active team and the they have a great community. Anyway when we start talking about SEO then is other problem and I think this problem it is with all forums. A lot of this forums are not build with SEO in mind and if are forums build with SEO in mind they probably don’t have so much features.
